NHS Continuing Healthcare is an NHS-funded package for eligible adults assessed as having a primary health need. Eligibility is decided through an NHS assessment, rather than simply by a diagnosis or the number of care hours required.

You have a say in your support. Tell your care team what matters to you, what you want to do and where you need help.
A personal budget is an agreed amount for care. Where the council identifies eligible needs, the budget sets out the money allocated to meet those needs in your support plan.
A direct payment can give you more choice. If agreed, you can arrange support from a person or organisation you choose, rather than the council arranging it for you.
Your support plan guides how the money is used. Speak to your council before changing what you spend your budget on. We can discuss how Care4U support could fit the agreed plan.
How do I know which care is right for me?
Start by telling us what you or your loved one finds difficult and what you want to keep doing independently. We can explain the available services and discuss an assessment to identify suitable support.
How much does home care cost?
Costs depend on your individual needs and the type and amount of support. We discuss the proposed care package and its cost following an assessment, so you can understand the arrangements before agreeing to them.
Can you help me understand funding options?
Our team can explain the cost of your proposed care. Depending on your circumstances, options may include paying privately, local authority support, direct payments or NHS Continuing Healthcare. Eligibility and funding decisions are made by the relevant council or NHS team. Explore care costs and funding.
Do you support younger adults as well?
Yes. We provide support for adults aged 18 and over, including help with personal care, daily routines and participating in university or community life. Contact us to discuss individual needs and availability.
What if I need care at short notice?
Call us to discuss the situation and check current availability. We can explore urgent arrangements when care needs change, including after a hospital stay or when a family carer becomes unavailable. Start dates depend on assessment and suitable staff being available.
Can I arrange care for a family member?
You’re welcome to make an initial enquiry. We will involve the person receiving care in the discussion as appropriate, taking account of their wishes and who they want involved.

Our recruitment process includes interviews, references, right-to-work and enhanced DBS checks, alongside practical training.
How we select and prepare our carers
Recruitment starts with a conversation about motivation, experience and career goals, followed by an interview.
- Right-to-work checks and at least two work references.
- Enhanced DBS checks, including the adults’ barred list where appropriate.
- Full employment history and verification of training certificates.
- In-house training with practical elements supporting the Care Certificate.
Training covers medication, health and safety, equality and diversity, personal development, duty of care, person-centred support, privacy and dignity, nutrition and hydration, infection prevention and handling information.
Our registered managers work with the compliance team to oversee care quality.
